Patrick James Keane

Patrick James Keane of Quinebaug, CT (formerly of Wethersfield, CT) born November 26, 1976, died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his home. Son of Judy and Dick Keane, Patrick leaves behind his brother Sean, brother Tim and his wife Heather, and brother Matt and his wife Jennie, and Colleen Keane. Patrick was predeceased by his father, Richard M. Keane and brother Daniel Mark Keane. Patrick leaves behind his very loved nephew Conor and nieces Mckenzie, Abbey, Lyndsey, Riley, Ruth and Clare, many cousins, aunts and uncles and beloved friends.

Raised in Wethersfield, CT, Patrick attended Wethersfield Public Schools where he made many lifelong friends with whom he remained in contact. Patrick attended Xavier High School in Middletown, CT where he excelled at Cross Country and Wrestling. His exceptional personality led Patrick to another large group of friends that he has continued to keep in touch with.

Pat’s next stop was the campus of the University of Vermont where he majored in Environmental Science and the outdoors, and the Grateful Dead became lifelong passions. Along with making new friends, Pat became a regular on the mountains, whether snowboarding or climbing, and studying the environment. Pat could close a mountain with the best of them. During his time at UVM, Patrick studied abroad at the University of New South Wales in Australia for a year, where he surfed amazing waves on Bondi Beach, and dove the barrier reefs.

After graduating, Pat found his way to the pharmaceutical industry, where he truly excelled as a scientist. Pat worked for years in drug development, while simultaneously working to achieve a Master’s degree in Project Management from Brandeis University.

Patrick’s final career stop was Programs Coordinator, Department of Developmental Services in Resource Allocation for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services, where he advocated for the disabled and worked with exceptional professionals and friends.

For decades, Patrick suffered from a seizure disorder that landed him, and his Mother, in every ER in Boston. Pat worked to overcome his epilepsy diagnosis; until he had major Brain Surgery at Yale, he was finally free of Seizures, regaining his ability to drive, and the world opened up to him again.

Patrick had a strong work ethic, and in his free time he reestablished the Keane and Son’s Landscaping brand in the Greater Boston area. More recently, Patrick’s hard work focused on his own home in the quiet northeast corner of CT, which was his pride and joy.

Pat was an incredibly loyal and dependable friend, who was there for any event to lend a hand, celebrate a wedding, greet a baby, or just be there to listen. He truly loved each of his friends, no matter the distance.

Patrick loved his family above all else. From trips to Cape Cod, visiting family all over, or sitting by the pool in Wethersfield, Pat was at home with family. Thank you all for your love and support for Patrick throughout his life (you know who you are!).

A celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street Wethersfield, CT, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
