Paul Santo Matarazzo, 87, of Tolland, beloved husband of the late Melinda Lee (Selander) Matarazzo, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025. Paul was born on June 6, 1938, in Hartford and was the son of the late Santo and Carmela (Gionfriddo) Matarazzo.
Paul earned his wings as a Parachutist in the US Army 101st Airborne Division. After serving his country he married Melinda and settled in Tolland. He worked for various companies in the construction field and then established Matarazzo Building and Remodeling, which he operated for the remainder of his career.
Paul was a devoted husband and father. He was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours in his boat on the waters of Long Island Sound with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, photography and feeding/watching the birds in his yard. He was a member of the Rockville Fish & Game Club and enjoyed various activities there.
Paul was a good humored and kind soul. He was genuinely interested in people’s lives; always listening and asking questions. He had many friends and was happy to share his vast knowledge in mechanics and construction to help out in any way he could.
Paul will be missed by his son, Christopher Matarazzo and his wife Mary-Ellen of Somers; his sister, Carmela “Millie” Bucchi and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother Sebastian (Subby) Matarazzo, sisters Pauline “Mary” Delldonna and Constance “Tina” DelCioppo.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, December 13th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Memorial Service will begin at 12:00pm following the calling hours.
