Paula Anne Meade

December 8, 1944October 10, 2020

Paula Anne (Hilden) Meade, 75, of Wethersfield, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 after a courageous 10 ½ year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Her family was by her side. Born in Boston, MA on December 8, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Paul Hilden and Kathleen (Corcoran) McTiernan. She was a loving mother who cared dearly for her children and grandchildren. She graduated from Aquinas Junior College in Newton, MA in 1964. She then worked directly for Monsignor Novello, who oversaw religious education for the Archdiocese of Boston. She later worked as secretary for the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Georgia at Athens. Early in life, she had a passion for music and dancing. She was an accomplished drum majorette for St. Mary High School in Brookline, MA. She was also a champion Irish step dancer in the Boston area. She was the Folk Group Director at Incarnation Church for several years. She participated on the fundraising committee to restore the Hartford Civic Center roof, and she was on the steering committee for the first all-night graduation party at Wethersfield High School, which continues today. She cherished taking her family on vacations, including trips to many beaches along the Eastern seaboard and California. A summer to Paula was not complete without a week or long weekend on Cape Cod, which grew to spending two summers at New Seabury in the late ‘80s. More recently, she enjoyed going to sporting events and activities for her grandchildren.

Paula leaves behind her children: Ann Marie (Meade) Davila and her husband Raul of Glastonbury and their children, Maria, Cecilia and Raul; David Meade and his wife Stacey (DeSena) of Guilford and their children, David, Olivia and Sophia; and Michael Meade and his wife Stacy (Constantineau) of Norman, Oklahoma and their children, Brendan, Keenan and Amelia.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 – 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (October 15th) at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Paula’s memory may be made to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, 80 Seymour St., PO Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102.
