Rafael Garcia

Rafael Garcia, 90, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 63 years of Amina (Medina) Garcia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (January 21, 2014). Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on August 2, 1923, he was the son of the late Nieves and Juana (Sanabria) Garcia. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Rafael worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 36 years. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed. In addition to his wife Amina, he is survived by his son, Glenn Garcia of Wethersfield; two daughters, Phyllis Garcia and her partner Phil Forsberg of Wethersfield and Elaine Garcia and her partner Tony Brito of Riverdale, NY; five adored grandchildren, Robert Deffley, David Gallo, Devon Garcia, Michael Garcia and Gabriella Brito and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Friedrich Garcia; his son-in-law, Richard Deffley and six siblings.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
