Ralph Edgar Davis, 92, of Glastonbury and formerly East Hartford, beloved husband of the late Barbara ""Bobbi"" (Wilson) Davis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Born in Stratford on November 19, 1924, he was the son of the late Ralph Taylor Davis and Marjorie (Hill) Davis. Ralph graduated from Stratford High School in 1942. Following his graduation, he started courses at UCONN in Storrs but left college to enlist in the U.S. Army in July 1943. He served with Company B, 62nd Armored Infantry Battalion (known as the Liberators), serving in Europe until his discharge in 1945 and earning a Purple Heart. After the war, Ralph returned to UCONN to finish his degree and also met the love of his life and future wife of 58 years, Bobbi. Ralph was a resident of East Hartford most of his life and a proud 39-year employee of Pratt & Whitney, working as the manager of the Compensation Group until retirement. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors for the East Hartford Federal Credit Union affiliated with Pratt & Whitney. Ralph's list of interests is long, starting with his passion for Dandy Dimont Terriers that traveled with Ralph and Bobbi to their summer home in Sebago Lake, Maine. When he wasn't fussing with gardening or landscaping, he was attending any UCONN sports games, whether men's or women's basketball or football, as well as the WNBA games at Mohegan Sun. Ralph was also a season ticket holder to the Hartford Whalers until they moved out of state. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution-Jeremiah Wadsworth Branch and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 0200 of Rocky Hill. Ralph leaves behind his son, Scott Davis and partner Dee Brock of The Villages, FL; two grandsons, Brandon Davis and fiancée Alicia Castagneto of Georgetown, KY and Shane Davis and fiancée Jillian Gardner of Louisville, KY; his sisters, Janice Rouse of Rocky Hill and Lois Waller of Andover, MA, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Davis of West Chester, PA. Special thanks to the Visiting Nurses from ECHN, the Purple Hearts Home Care, and the staff at The Hearth at Glastonbury, where Ralph lived for the past three years and received compassionate and loving care. Calling hour will be Thursday (October 5) from 10-11 a.m. concluding with a service at 11 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Donations in Ralph's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
