Raymond was born in Hartford to the late Bernice and Michal Rawski on December 15, 1924. Raymond grew up in Hartford during the Great Depression and would tell stories of shining shoes and bringing home the monies to his mother to help support the family. He graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1941 and attended A.I. Prince Vocational Regional School graduating in 1943. He joined the US Marines at age 17 and went on to proudly serve his country in World War II from 1943 to 1945 in Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Okinawa as a Private First Class M1 rifle Sharpshooter with special qualifications in artillery operations.
Upon his return, he went to work for Nielsen Tool & Die before starting work at Pratt & Whitney in East Harford and Middletown. He held titles of Supervisor in three areas: Process Planning, Production Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, overseeing all process planning activities for two manufacturing areas that produced complex aerospace assemblies.
He married Barbara (Newton) Reynolds and they had six children. He is survived by Stephen Reynolds of Berlin, Gregory Reynolds of Wethersfield, Marcia Muller and husband Stephen Muller of Glastonbury, Margery Reynolds of Newington, and Raymond Reynolds and Gigi Millikin of Block Island, RI. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Lauren Reynolds of Waltham, MA. He became a first-time grandfather at 99 and half to Aiden William Reynolds, now 10 months and Arya Taskin age 5.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and the extended family of his longtime girlfriend Ellie Puchalski, who he thought of as his second family. He enjoyed UConn Women’s Basketball, the Rhode Island shore, favorite movies: Castaway, Fiddler on the Roof and Bridges of Madison County. He loved to hear about the latest ventures of each of his children and was still offering sound advice at age 100.
The family would like to especially thank the loving care of the staff of Kathy’s Care at the Lodge in Rocky Hill and Vitas Hospice for their invaluable services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 21st, at 9:45 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church of Christ the King Parish, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield followed by full military honors and burial at the Village Cemetery in Wethersfield.
