
Raymond A. St. Peter of East Hartford, beloved husband for 44 years of Mary Tonino St. Peter, went to be with the Lord on Friday, (October 10, 2008). Born August 14, 1922 he was the oldest son of the late Adelord and Grace (Ouimette) St. Peter. He was a lifelong resident of the Hartford area except for a 17-year period when he lived in Miami, FL. Ray was the comptroller and retired manager of the New World Trade Center in Miami, FL. He was a member of the 3rd degree of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed bowling, bowling in several leagues and worked part-time at Silver Lane Bowling for 15 years. Ray loved politics and the Red Sox. He was elected to the East Hartford Democratic Town Committee in 1964 and served as chairman of the 6th District for seven years. He was appointed to East Hartford Housing Authority in 1965 and was proud that while serving as a Commissioner the following projects were accomplished; Elms Village, Highlands, Heritage Gardens, refurbished the Larson Building and purchased Corporate Headquarters on Burnside Avenue. Besides his wife he is survived by his stepdaughter, Rosemary Menard and her husband Wayne; two stepsons, Edward Tonino and his wife, Denise and Michael Tonino and his wife Mary; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and his sister, Doris Brimble. He was predeceased by his first wife, Clara (Plummer) St. Peter and four sisters, Clare Hartl, Ellen Frazier, Patricia Ann St. Peter and an infant sister, Theresa Ann St. Peter and a brother, Louis J. St. Peter. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the physicians and staff at Cardiology, PC, especially Dr. Owlia for the years of care and kindness given to Ray and to Dr. Rizvi who has been exceptional in his medical care and support to the family during these last few days. The family also would like to thank Dr. Sharon Diamen and the exceptional care given by the Palliative Care nurses and a special thank you to Peggy, from VITAS Hospice, who never left their side. The St. Peter family thanks each and every one of you for your exceptional care and kindness. The funeral is Wednesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Dr., East Hartford. Burial will be in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
