Im not sure if i have the correct obituary here, but it seems very close...the only nickname for rich i knew of, was "papag" so if someone can verify all this for me, it would be nice..Anyway, rich and i were penpals..! i never met him or saw a pic of him..He bought some rapalas from me off of ebay somewhere around 2000..? Then he eventually thanked me for the "good deal" he got on ebay..haha. Then a friendship was formed , we talked often about fishing and told me of his yearly trips to saranac lake. I fish for musky, so he printed me up a couple tshirts with musky on them and they arrived at my door out of the blue..!haha. so i sent lures back we emailed often, he even sent me some great poetry around xmas time once.. then we kind of lost touch. Over the last couple years i noticed my emails bouncing back to me so i became curious if something happened to him. Ive never had a penpal before or since and it was really cool.I felt like he was a favorite uncle to me he was so cool and smart with his emails..So rest in peace rich and Godspeed to you, Tom Pallotta,cleve,ohio.

As far back as I can remember and probably around the time I lost my own father at the age of 6, D (as I liked to call him) took me under his wing. Why he did this I will never know. I guess he saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself at the time. He became part mentor, part friend and like a second father to me. He was always there for me if I needed advice, encouragement or a kick in the pants as was often the case. He used to call me his 4th child and that wasn’t something he just said. He really made me feel that way. He was that one person in my life, that no matter the time of night or place if I needed help he would be there. Those late night calls were always followed by a ride home and a well-deserved lecture. I can still hear his voice ringing in my ears!
The Davis family lived four doors up the street from me and their house quickly became like a second home to me. There was an open door policy at all times. If I was cold, hungry, lonely, etc. I could walk right in. No knocking necessary! They were always happy to see me.
D would also include me in just about anything the family would happen to be doing at the time. I have tons of fond memories of trips to Jersey, Yankee Stadium, fishing and camping. I used to love going on trips to The Train Exchange or to help him pick out fish for his many tanks. On snow days we could always be found in the basement watching an endless loop of Willie Wonka and he would make us all the world’s best hot chocolate and popcorn dripping in butter. Most of all I will remember the countless hours we spent sitting around talking about life! 
It’s funny now that I have my own children, I often find myself telling them many of the things D told or taught me. By the way, they think my hot chocolate is the world’s best and on snow days they can often be found watching Willie Wonka and eating very buttery popcorn. Thanks to you D!! I was blessed to have you in my life!

When I moved to Wethersfield with 2 young children in 1975 I knew no one.   The drain pipe to my Cedar St house clogged and I was lucky to call General Sewer.  That brought Richard into my life.  He noticed my 2 kids, Sharon just 3 months younger than Charlie.  Soon Wini called and I thank him for being thoughtful enough to bring us together for a lifelong special friendship.  A few years later he drove me to church for my wedding, offering a last chance to escape with a ride to the airport, or anywhere,  Wini was by my side, my maid of honor.  There were years of holiday barbeques and playdates for what became our 6 kids.  I always remember a bitter cold St Patrick's day parade together in Hartford, not long before Matthew was born.  Who do you call when your van breaks down on the New York Thruway, as you are bringing your college daughter Jeannette, with her friend, and your parents, home for Christmas break on a bitter dark night?  Who else with a big van and willingness to help you anywhere, anytime?  Who else had a yard full of beautiful flowers, complete with 2 fish ponds, for you to cut for your daughter's wedding centerpieces?  Who else would go with you at dawn to shop for plants at the Regional Market?  Who else dared to speak the outrageous and enjoyed a provocative conversation?  Occasionally I was teased for my name, but always was happy to be called "Full Of" by Richard, which he did whenever I called looking for Wini.
