Richard “Joe” Wice, 76, of Southington, beloved husband of the late Sharon “Sherry” (Corbidge) Wice, passed away on February 26, 2026, due to complications from diabetes. Born to the late Harold and Phyllis (Pandolfe) Wice, Joe grew up in the greater Hartford area before answering the call to serve his country. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the height of the Vietnam War.
Joe was a man of simple pleasures, none greater than his lifelong friendships and his passion for fishing. Whether casting a line in the familiar waters of New England or enjoying the salt air during his time on Florida’s west coast, he was always happiest on the water.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond Wice of San Jose, CA and his beloved nieces and nephews: Robert and Laurie Wice, Susan Chester, Lynn Segarra, James and Karen Wice, Pamela and Scott Calder, and Robert and Donna Wice, along with a large circle of extended family. In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was predeceased by his older brothers, Robert and Joseph Wice.
Calling hour will be Monday, March 9 from 10-11 a.m. concluding with a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, 405 Allen Avenue, Meriden, CT 06451 or online at https://fsecommunity.org/
