

Rick L. Casados, 50, of Monroe, loving husband of 17 years to Margo (Tiffen) Casados, passed away on December 25, 2025 with his family at his side after a seven-month battle with cancer. Born and raised in Santa Fe, NM, son of Carmen Martinez and Gilbert Casados, Rick also lived in Brooklyn, NY and London, England before settling in CT.
Rick loved to travel, touring in his 20s with his friends in Logical Nonsense, traveling with Margo throughout Europe, Egypt and Turkey, and crossing the US many times with his wife and kids, visiting friends and family along the way.
An artist and professional photographer, Rick had a rare ability to capture his unique perspective in street, portrait, landscape and live show photography. Rick also worked as a screen printer, photo editor, jewelry maker, and bartender over the years.
Rick spent much of his time at concerts, taking live and promo shots for his friends in bands, visiting museums and art galleries, and hosting a music podcast. Rick was a very talented gardener, cook, and musician, and a wealth of information on graffiti, punk, metal, hip-hop, rap and reggae.
In addition to his wife Margo, Rick will be deeply missed by his daughter, Niko Casados and his son, Sebastian Casados of Monroe; sister, Carmella Casados (Scott Caceres), niece, Leilani Catanach, father, Gilbert and the rest of his large and loving family in Santa Fe, NM; brother-in-law, Adam Tiffen (Goli); nieces and nephews, Ayla, Caspian, Alara and Asher of Aldie, VA; and brother-in-law, Craig Tiffen (Melanie), niece Genevieve and father-in-law, Ira Tiffen of East Hampton.
Rick was pre-deceased by his mother, Carmen Martinez; mother-in-law, Michele Bernstein; maternal grandparents, Frank and Esther Martinez and paternal grandparents, Isabel and Arsenio Casados.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Rick’s life will be held Saturday, January 10 at 11 a.m. at Saint Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave, Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the 17q12 Foundation at chromo17q12.org
