Rina (DiLoreto) Fazzio, 98, of Wethersfield, formerly of Hartford, beloved wife of the late Louis Fazzio passed away peacefully on September 14, 2021 (just shy of her 99th birthday) with her family by her side. Rina was born on September 26, 1922 in Pratola Peligna, Province of L’Aquila, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Liberata (DiStefinis) DiLoreto.
Rina and her husband lived a simple life, working in their garden and spending time with their family. They also enjoyed attending Jai Alai games and their occasional trips to the casino where Rina was a fan of the slot machines. Rina and her husband were proud to make the trip back to her hometown where they were able to introduce their sons to family and friends. Rina was a wonderful cook, she especially enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners where her family and friends surrounded the table sharing stories while enjoying a delicious meal. She also enjoyed passing her culinary skills onto her granddaughter. For many years, Rina was a member of the Pratola Peligna Society where she made many longtime friends. Rina also enjoyed watching UConn women’s basketball.
Rina was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, she will be sadly missed by her sons, James Fazzio and John Fazzio and is now reunited with her son Robert Fazzio who sadly predeceased her. In addition, Rina will be missed by her adored granddaughter Amanda Fazzio, along with several beloved family members and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Rina was predeceased by her siblings, Zerta Matrone, Dolinka Dolly” Anzellotti, Alfeo DiLoreto and Pelino DiLoreto.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield following the calling hours. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
