Robert A. Baio, 62, longtime partner of Linda Herstein, of Quaker Hill, passed away on March 17, 2021 after a long illness. Robert was born in Hartford and was son to the late Michael A. and Angeline (Prete) Baio. In his early years Robert worked for the Hartford Insurance Group until moving to Florida. Upon his return to Connecticut he chose to reside by the shoreline and worked for Sears in Waterford until he became too disabled.
Robert was a miracle from birth, surviving without properly functioning kidneys. He was not supposed to survive. The doctors repeatedly told his family he would not live long at birth, then up to age three, then to a teenager. The doctors finally stopped putting an age limit on his demise because Bob, as he was known to his friends and family, defied all the odds. He loved life and lived it whole heartily on his terms. While he was not very healthy physically, he was vibrant and strong in every other aspect of his life and he did not let anything hold him back. He was always the life of the party and his laughter and jokes put a smile on everyone’s faces. His father used to call him, “Good Time Charlie” and “Where’s the party Bob,” because of his zest for fun times. His mother always called Bob her “Miracle baby.”
Bob enjoyed his travels, his family, and his pets. He was a world traveler in his mid-twenties. He especially loved his family and stayed very close with his sister, Phyllis, and his nephew, Michael, who live in Florida. He also loved and built a life with his partner, Linda, and their pet cats.
In addition to Linda, he is also survived by an older brother, Michael Baio, Jr. and he is survived and will be missed by his sister, Phyllis Baio of Keystone Heights, FL, his nephew, Michael Pappa, Jr. and his wife, Jamie. He was also greatly loved by his great nephews Skyler and Leonardo (Bob was their Godfather), and his great niece Isabella.
Private services will be held at a later time.
Robert requested his ashes be spread on the shoreline where he loved so very much.
Bob, we love you “Meeces to Pieces!”
