Ronald F. Angelo, Sr., “Ron”, 88, of Rocky Hill, former longtime resident of Wethersfield, beloved husband of the late Josephine “Joy” (Fontana) Angelo, peacefully passed away Saturday, October 17, 2021, surrounded by his family. Ron was born December 20, 1932 and raised in Hartford, the son of the late Nicholas and Julia (Colli) Angelo. He attended Hartford schools, graduating from Bulkeley High School, Class of 1952. Ron and Joy married in 1958, eventually moving to Wethersfield where they raised their children and made many fond memories. He was a devout Catholic and faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation. After church, Ron Sr. and Jr. would frequent Chuck’s Steakhouse, Rocky Hill.
Ron retired in 1995 as the Vice President of the W.I. Clark Company in Wallingford, where he worked for forty years in the building material and supply industry. Ron was extremely involved in the community, as a former board member of the CT. Construction Industries (CCIA), member of UNICO National, Wethersfield Chapter, the Wethersfield Country Club for many years, the Elks B.P.O.E. #2308 Wethersfield/ Rocky Hill, Commission for Planning and Zoning of Rocky Hill, as well as the Citizens Advisory of MDC.
Ron’s love of fishing started as a boy, he and his father went blue fishing in Long Island Sound (The Race). Ron passed along this passion to his son Ron Jr., who owned a couple of bait and tackle shops, where Ron Sr. would spend quite a bit of time. He was also a huge, fan of the Boston Red Sox, UConn Women’s Basketball and the New York Giants.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Ron will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his son Ronald F. Angelo, Jr. with his wife Lana, of Wethersfield; his daughter Lynn Naumann with her husband Howard, of Middletown, five cherished grandchildren, Nick Naumann, Tyler Naumann, Alissa Angelo, Erica Naumann and Ronnie Angelo; a brother-in-law Joseph Fontana; and two sisters-in-law, Madlyn DiLorenzo and Jane Finch; as well as extended family and many dear and close friends.
Ron’s family extends a special thanks and appreciation to his caregiver Essie, for her kindness, care and compassion.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, October 19th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 20th at 10 a.m. directly in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Masks are required. Interment will follow the Mass in Rose Hill Memorial Park (Section 16), 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill.
