Ruth Lyons Hinchcliffe (Jones)

Ruth Lyons (Jones) Hinchcliffe, 98, a long-time resident of Wethersfield, died peacefully on Sunday (October 10, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. Born in West Haven, she was the daughter of the late William Earle and Edna (Bolton) Jones and moved to Wethersfield in the 1920s. She graduated from Wethersfield High School and worked her entire career for Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Hartford as an underwriter. She married Henry G. Hinchcliffe in 1952 and they resided in Wethersfield where both were very active in their church and community. Henry died in 1989. Ruth and Henry traveled extensively in earlier years and spent many summer vacations on Cape Cod. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Wethersfield for more than 80 years, where she was honored during a 50 year member anniversary service. Active with the Episcopal Church Women's Association, she was also past treasurer of the group, and an active member of the Board of AARP Chapter 1222. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association of Hartford. For the past four years, Ruth has resided in Newington. She is survived by her nieces, Judy Murphy and her husband, Tom of Morristown, NJ; Nancy Rowland of Norwalk, Gail Dearing-Price and her husband, Peter of Los Angeles, CA; Barbara Pelosi and her husband, Ruggerio of Palm Desert, CA; Susan Sweeney of Limington, ME and several grandnieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Ruth was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Walker Jones and Margery J. Powell. Funeral Service will be on Friday (October 15, 2010) at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 Main St., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Parish Memorial Fund (see church address above) or to a charity of the donor's choice. The James T.
