Salvador J. Arroyo, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida, beloved husband of Gloria Arroyo for 57 years, passed away peacefully at his home in Florida on Monday, March 30, 2026. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan Arroyo and Herminia Jusino.
Salvador proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Independence (CV-62). Following his service, he built a dedicated career as a security supervisor with Shawmut Corporation, where he worked for many years.
Salvador was a passionate sports fan who especially loved cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles. While football held a special place in his heart, he also had a strong appreciation for basketball and was a loyal supporter of the UConn Huskies men's and women’s basketball.
Above all, Salvador was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He was deeply caring and selfless, always putting his family first. He went out of his way to ensure those he loved were cared for and safe. His love for his wife was unwavering, and even in his final days, his greatest concern was for her well-being.
In addition to his devoted wife, Gloria, he will be forever missed by his four children: Marisol Arroyo of Newington; Elizabeth Hernandez and her husband Noel of Rotonda West, Florida; Marilyn Kaltasis and her husband Konstantinos of Wethersfield; and Salvador Arroyo Jr. of Port Charlotte, Florida. He also leaves behind seven adored grandchildren, Aaron Arroyo, Ashley Daughenbaugh, Christine Santana, Ariel Grimmett, Aliyah Arroyo, Joshua Arroyo, and Ariana Kaltasis, as well as two cherished great-grandchildren, Brynley Daughenbaugh and River Grimmett. He is also survived by his siblings, Lydia Santiago, Leonor Maldonado, Luisa Cantres, Maria Flores, Armando Arroyo, as well as many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings, Flora Sierra, Ana Colon, Alberto Arroyo Antonio Arroyo and Juan “Johnny” Bastia Arroyo.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Salvador during his final days, especially the compassionate hospice team at Tidewell Hospice. Their kindness, support, and dedication brought comfort to him and peace to our family during a difficult time.
