Salvatore “Sal” Alderucci, 83, of Newington, beloved husband of Elli (Rasmussen) Alderucci passed away peacefully in his home on January 21, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Salvatore was born on June 16, 1935 in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily and was the son of the late Paolo and Giuseppa (Miceli) Alderucci. He immigrated to the United States in 1961, and in 1966 he and Elli married and eventually settled in Newington. Sal worked as a tailor at several department stores and in 1968 he opened “Sal the Tailor” of Wethersfield that he owned and operated for 45 years. Sal had a great reputation for his expert tailoring and commitment to his customers. For many years he was a member of the Italian American Stars and Canicattinese Societies, both of Hartford.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Sal leaves his two sons, Christian Alderucci and his wife Dr. Kelly Fritz of Maryland, and Paul Alderucci of Newington, along with his beloved grandchildren, Beckham and Keegan who will miss their Nonno very much. Sal also leaves his brother, Sebastian Alderucci and his wife Nadine of Wesport, his sister-in-law, Marianne Bray of Manchester, and many family members in the United States, as well as in Italy, England and Germany.
