Our beautiful mother, grandmother, and friend Sandra (Pope) has begun her new journey. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Agostino, her parents Anthony and Mary (Tino) Forcucci, and her special pal Winston. But it is with a heavy heart that Sandra leaves her cherished daughter Linda, son-in-law Steven Lauretti, her precious grandchildren Melissa and Tyler Lauretti, and her friend Cook-E, who never left her side. Sandra was a poet, cake decorator, chocolatier, and one of J.B.’s original “Quackers.” She loved her red hair and her trips to the hair salon, celebrating Christmas, sending heartfelt cards to friends and family “just because”, taking road trips, and scrapbooking. As an employee of Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, St. Brigid School, the Town of West Hartford, and St. Joseph College, she utilized her eye for detail, quick wit, and financial sense in administrative and accounting roles. After graduating from Mount St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford, she continued her education at St. Joseph College. Sandra was very active in her children’s schools through holding leadership positions in Parent Teacher Organizations, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts, she taught CCD at St. Mark the Evangelist Church in West Hartford, and she volunteered with several community organizations and charities. Sandra’s greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their concerts, plays, graduations, award ceremonies, and special events. She will forever be in the front row clapping and cheering. Her family will also always remember Pope’s message – “don’t forget to call.” Sandra was a pillar of strength, courage, and grace as she dealt with many challenges in her lifetime. She brought happiness and joy to so many through her kind, compassionate, and generous spirit, and she made the world a brighter and better place. Sandra will miss her friend “Patch,” and she also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Doris Forcucci, nephew Michael Forcucci and his wife Kira, and son Thomas Guzzo. In lieu of flowers and to celebrate Sandra’s life, memorial donations may be made to “Sandra’s Smiles Fund” at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation, Attn: Sandra’s Smiles Fund, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106. Funds will be used to purchase specially-made stuffed toy dogs for children undergoing treatment in the hospital’s hematology/oncology division and to host events that will bring comfort, joy, and smiles to patients and families. The funeral will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19th from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at The Catholic Church of St. Mark the Evangelist, 467 Quaker Lane South, West Hartford. Burial will be private. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
