

Santina (Gozzo) Motta, 85, of Hartford, passed away suddenly Friday, April 20, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Paolo Motta. Santina was born on July 10, 1932 in Canicattini Bagni, Province of Siracusa, Italy, daughter of the late Michele and Gasperina (Tucitto) Gozzo. Together with her husband, she cofounded San Remo Bakery in Berlin where she worked for many years and had the opportunity to utilize her love and passion for cooking and baking. Santina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite time was preparing and enjoying delicious meals with her family surrounding the table.
Santina is survived by her two sons, Santo Motta and his wife Rita of Hartford and Michael Motta and his wife Maria of Wethersfield; a daughter, Rina Formica and her husband Frank of New Britain; seven grandchildren, Paolo Motta, Giancarlo Motta, Michael Motta, Paolo Motta, Enzo Formica, Paolo Formica and Cristina Motta-Comeau along with her beloved great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Concetta Motta of Hartford and Lucy Motta of Wethersfield; two nieces in Italy, Giusy Barbieri and Rina DiNatale as well as two nephews in Italy, Giovanni DiNatale and Michele DiNatale. Besides her husband of 46 years, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Carmela Amenta and Emanuela DiNatale.
Funeral Services will depart at 9:15am on Wednesday from D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Hartford. Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral chapel.
