Santo “Mr. Bordonaro” Ciarcia, 90, of Wethersfield, husband of the late Gaetana “Katie” Ciarcia, died peacefully, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at home with his family by his side. He was born October 1, 1926 in Canicattini Bagni province of Siracusa, Sicily and was the son of the late Giuseppe and Antonina Ciarcia. Santo was a veteran and served proudly in the U.S. Army during WW II. After returning home, he owned and operated Bordonaro’s Service Center on Broad Street in Hartford until his retirement. This tradition has been continued by John Giarenakis, who worked for and presently owns Bordonaro’s. He was a longtime faithful communicant of Corpus Christi Church. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his daughter, Annette LaJoie of Rocky Hill and son, Dr. Joseph S. Ciarcia and wife Linda of Wethersfield; four adored grandchildren, Alana and Natalie Ciarcia and Caitlyn and Annie LaJoie; his brother, Manuel “Nello” Ciarcia and wife Patricia of Wethersfield, as well as many nieces and cousins. Special thanks are to be given to Nick, who so lovingly gave special care to Santo for almost five years. Santo loved him very deeply. Thanks also to Mike, who in his short time with Santo also gave kind and loving care.
