

Sergio Gregorio Colantonio, 79, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Mimma (Moscardelli) Colantonio, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Sergio was born on December 4, 1938 in Carrufo, Province of L’Aquila, Italy and was the son of the late Armando and Osiena (Celli) Colantonio. Sergio worked for many years in the manufacturing industry, first at Underwood Typewriter, then at Pratt and Whitney and ending his career at Jacobs Manufacturing. He was a longtime member of the Mt. Carmel/St. Cristina Society. Sergio always enjoyed his summer trips to his hometown in Italy at the foothills of the Gran Sasso. He loved attending social events and dancing the evening away, but most of all he enjoyed sharing delicious meals and spending time with his family, friends and godchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Mimma of 50 years, he is survived by his brothers Gastone “Gus” Colantonio and his wife Holly of Wethersfield and Fulvio Colantonio and his wife Susanne of Marlborough, and a sister-in-law, Maria Bambina Iannessa and her husband Enrico of Italy. Sergio also leaves his many nieces and nephews, Eric Colantonio and his wife Angela, Jaclyn Brancato and her husband Robert, Armando Colantonio, Melinda Decourcey and her husband Matt, Angela Colantonio, Lorenzo Iannessa and his fiancée Teresa, Francesco Iannessa and his fiancée Noruena, Antonio DiMarco and his wife Milena and Angelo DiMarco and his fiancée Patricia. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister-in-law Maria Clara DiMarco and her husband Domenico.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church), 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 3-6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
