
Stanley J. Lis, 80, of Wethersfield, loving husband of Jane M. (Watroba) Lis for 56 years, died peacefully, Friday (November 19, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. He was born April 28, 1930 in Poland and was the son of the late Stanley and Teofila (Pliska) Liss. Stanley was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He owned and operated Stanley Lis Painting and Wallpaper Company for over 40 years, retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Polish National Home, Hartford. He enjoyed traveling, but most of all spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed. Besides his wife, Jane, he is survived by his children, Dr. Mary Jane Lis and husband, David Greenbacker of Durham, Stanley P. Lis and wife, Donna of East Hartford, Suzanne Lis-Ratti and husband, Joseph of Rocky Hill, Joseph Lis and wife, Barbara of Niantic and Joanne Lis of Miami Beach, Florida, grandchildren, Michael Lis and Alex Ratti, a brother, Walter Liss of Orlando, Florida, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gladys and David Bertrand and Liz and Dick Lafontaine, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Henry Liss. Calling hours will be Tuesday (November 23) from 9:30-11 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. The burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill with full military honors.
