Thomas Edward “Tommy” Bieszczad, 84, longtime Wethersfield resident, beloved husband of the late Mary (Saucier) Bieszczad, peacefully passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Amberwoods, Farmington. Tommy was born December 10, 1936 and raised in Hartford, one of four children of the late Tomacz
"Thomas" and Kunegunda (Lech) Bieszczad. He attended Hartford schools, earning his diploma from Hartford Public High School.
After high school, Tommy was drafted into the military, serving our country in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was the facilities manager at Harbor Park, The Pavillion and Sunset Ribs Restaurants for many years. He had a passion for cars and racing, spending many weekends at CT Dragway. In addition, he enjoyed working the Christmas Light display at Goodwin Park, Hartford.
Tom will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his four nieces, Alison and Michelle Saucier, both of Eastford, Kim Usmani of Berlin, and Julie Castillo with her husband Mike, of Coventry; a nephew, Mark Kulmacz of Wethersfield; a great niece Sara Usmani of Berlin; a brother-in-law, Paul Saucier of Eastford; a sister-in-law Julie Fahy, with her husband Steve, of Berlin. Along with his wife and parents, Tommy was predeceased by his siblings, two brothers, Edward and Joseph Bieszczad, and a sister Josephine Kulmacz.
Friends and family may pay their respects to Tommy’s family, Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Attendees are asked to meet directly at church. Interment will follow the Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Section M), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. Masks are required for indoor services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Tommy’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 111 Founders Plaza, 2nd floor, East Hartford, CT 06108.
