Thomas Edward Mensinger, 82, formerly of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2019. Thomas was born on May 1, 1937 in Hooversville, PA and was the son of the late Frank and Fannie (Petrovic) Mensinger. Thomas served proudly in the U.S. Army and has been a member of The American Legion, Marlboro Post 197 for the past ten years. Thomas worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft over 30 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1993. Thomas was also a long term part-time worker and a fixture at Bliss Market in Wethersfield. He also served as a firefighter for the City of Hartford, worked at the Underwood Typewriter Co., equipment operator for Allied Groceries, and was an independent contractor for wall coverings.
Thomas will be missed by his devoted son, Brian E. Mensinger, his wife Hope of Bolton, and her son Joseph, his brother Martin Mensinger of Enfield and his sister Ruth Vezina of Bend, OR. In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his sisters Mildred Wajon, Margaret Stronczer, Frances Gett and Dorothy Boyd. Thomas’s family would like to thank the care givers and associates of The Atrium of Farmington, Visiting Angels, and the nurses and associates of Amberwoods of Farmington. A special thanks to the nurse and members of the Masonicare Home Health and Hospice.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Boulevard, South #4b, Southington, CT, 06489.
