Valentina (Schiraj) Chudowsky, 92, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Leonid Chudowsky, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025. Valentina was born on April 21, 1933 in Opishnia, Ukraine and was the daughter of the late Semen and Ewfrosyne (Sen) Schiraj.
Valentina earned a BS degree, she worked as a Librarian at Yale University, retiring after many years of dedicated service. She was a leader of the Ukrainian Plast Girl Scouts, a member of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America and a member of the St. Mary’s Protection Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Valentina was a devoted wife, and aunt, she will be missed by her niece, Natalia Nicefaro and her husband David, nephews Bohdan Popel and his wife Suzanne, Myron Popel, John Schiraj and Alex Schiraj.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel. 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will be private at the St. Andrew’s Cemetery in South Bound Brook, New Jersey.
