

Vincenzo ""Enzo"" Messina, 81, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 52 years of Therese (Auger) Messina, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Born in Siracusa, Italy on January 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Luigi and Caterina (Regina) Messina. Vincenzo was a self-employed mason and the owner of Vincent Messina Masonry for many years. He enjoyed skiing with his family during their visits to his home in Stratton, VT. He and Therese traveled extensively throughout Europe. He was most happy cooking traditional Italian meals for large family gatherings. A devoted husband, father and proud grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Therese; three sons, Dan Messina and his companion Stefanee Freeman of Wethersfield, Louis Messina of Wethersfield, and Marc Messina and wife Amy of Auburn, MA and his seven adored grandchildren, Alison, Mary Kate, Jack, Michael, Emily, Thomas and Caroline. Vincenzo also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Italy, Belgium and Canada. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
