
Virginia (DeLauro) Swindell, 87, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Walter James Swindell, passed away Monday, (February 4, 2008) at the Holyoke Medical Center. She was born August 23, 1920 in Hartford the daughter of the late James and Theresa (Toscano) DeLauro. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Connecticut State Motor Vehicle Department for many years. Virginia was a longtime communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Wethersfield and a past president of the Elm Tree Women's Club. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Virginia is survived by a son, Stephen M. Swindell and his wife Theresa of Holyoke, MA; two grandchildren, Stephanie Brunelle and her husband James of Holyoke, and Jason Swindell and his wife Christie also of Holyoke; four great grandchildren, Nicholas and Abigail Brunelle and Jake and Sadie Swindell. She is also survived by three nephews, Dr. James DeLaura, Peter Hatton and Vincent Hatton, and a niece Theresa Brady. Virginia was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony DeLaura and Joseph DeLauro and a sister, Rose Hatton. Funeral services will leave Thursday, February 7, at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
