

Vito O. Mazzone, DDS, 83, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 55 years of Norma (Carone) Mazzone, passed away peacefully on Sunday (February 1, 2015). Born in Bristol on November 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Vito Anthony and Maddalena (Catucci) Mazzone. Dr. Mazzone graduated from Bristol High School in 1950. He received his Bachelor of Arts in pre-med from Holy Cross College in 1954 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1958 from Georgetown University. At Georgetown, he was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honorary dental society, and he was the recipient of the Mosby Scholarship Book Award for scholastic excellence. After graduating, he served for two years in the U.S. Air Force as a dentist. Dr. Mazzone opened his dental office in Bristol, where he practiced for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He was a lifelong member of the American Dental Association, the Bristol Dental Society, the Elks (B.P.O.E), and the Bristol Fish & Game Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, tennis and bowling. In addition to his devoted wife Norma, Dr. Mazzone will be dearly missed by his son, Mark J. Mazzone and his wife Diane J. DiBernardi of Wethersfield; his three adored grandchildren, Rachael, Bradley and Mary; his sisters-in-law, Terry Kowalski, Helen Bucior, Hazel Mazzone and Amelia Mazzone, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Tony Mazzone.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday (February 5) at 11:45 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Family and friends may call on Wednesday (February 4) from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
