

William A. Yeagher, Jr., 91, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of the late Mary (McDonnell) passed away Sunday, (September 18, 2011), surrounded by his family. He was born November 27, 1919, in New Brunswick, NJ, son of the late William and Loretta (Tierney) Yeagher. Bill was a proud graduate of Bulkeley High School class of 1938. He was the long-time treasurer for the class, a loyal Detroit Tiger fan and rooted for UCONN sports teams. Bill and his late wife Mary spent many winters in Vero Beach, Florida playing golf, shuffleboard and enjoying visiting with old friends. He was retired from the Federal Government as a Quality Assurance Control Inspector. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran serving his country during World War II. Bill was also a member of the Corpus Christi Church bowling league, a member of Century Hills Country Club, The American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Bill is survived by a son, William A. Yeagher III and his wife, Diana of Steamboat Springs, CO; two daughters, Marybeth McNamee and her husband, Ron of Norfolk, CT and Martha Deegan and her husband, Louis of Middletown, CT; a brother, Robert Yeagher of MA; a brother-in-law, Thomas McDonnell and his wife Joyce of Eastham, MA; a sister-in-law Helen Meskill of Newington, CT; and grandchildren, Lydia and husband, Rob Edson of Parker, OH., and Alyessa Yeagher of Steamboat Springs, CO., Dr. Sarah McNamee Pfiester and her husband, Marty of Liberty Township, OH., Thomas P. McNamee and Heather Hegedus of Portland, CT and Alex Mitchell of Novi, MI and Mary E. Johns and her husband Bill of Meriden, CT; and three great grandchildren, Blake and Annika Edson and Adeline Rose Pfiester. He was predeceased by a beloved son, Thomas Steven Yeagher.
Funeral services leave Thursday, (September 22) at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Burial will follow at Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Calling hours are Wednesday, (September 21) from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
