

He was born in Mt. Crawford on August 1, 1923 and was the son of the late Earl Hicks and Bertie A. Pence Baker.
Calvin graduated from Mt. Sidney High School and served in the US Navy on the USS Wisconsin during WWII. He operated a dairy farm for 40 years before retiring; and then sold flowers and produce at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market. He was a member of Frieden’s United Church of Christ where he taught Sunday school and served as treasurer, elder, and deacon.
On November 22, 1947 he married the former Goldie Long, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Lois B. Kisling and husband, Marvin, of Harrisonburg, V. Carol Breeden and husband, James, of Mt. Crawford; two brothers, Valley Baker of Weyers Cave, and Rollin Baker of Bridgewater; numerous nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Warren and Jimmy Baker and sister, Helen Baker.
The family will receive friends 7-8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 25, at the Chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
