He was born on November 30, 1950 in Marlinton, WV and was the son of the late Enoch and Margarete Terry Pyles.
James graduated from Pocahontas County High School in 1971. He was a welder and worked for various construction companies until opening his own exhaust business in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by a son, James D. Pyles and wife, Heather, of Mt. Crawford; a daughter, Jill Fox and companion, Sam McGhee of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Slade Pyles and Kaitlin Stroop; two great-grandchildren, Maddie Wilborn and Blakelee Coffey; a special nephew, Randy Johnson of WV.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Rose Johnson, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Monday, March 18, 2024 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. Honoring his wishes he will be cremated.
