I knew Joyce as the Middle School Counselor for Stuarts Draft Middle School 1984. We rode together to our school from the P.O. at Fort Defiance. She was a delight and also heard her play the organ and piano for Salem Lutheran Ch. Joyce Jim and I also enjoyed exchanging ideas about our Valley Pools. . . cleaning, chlorinating and solar blankets. She spoke of her nephew Jason and I am glad you will be able to continue her legacy of giving back to our Mt. Sidney Community. May she rest in peace and may we all meet again in eternity. Mary M. Our sincere sympathy to all of Joyce's family. She & I were fellow students at the Weyers Cave High School. We suffered together through the startup of the first school band. Years later, I helped organize several of our high school reunions and will always remember Joyce and her willingness to help with the programs for these events.

To Joyce's family:

I am the daughter of Evalena Croushorn Heflin who was born in Weyer's Cave and spent some years living there with her father, James Wm. Croushorn, and her brothers Roscoe, William, and Charles. Her mother was Alice B. Swartz Croushorn who lived there till the whole family moved to Catlett, VA. because of her mother's diabetes (MD advised them to move.) They lived near the Lutheran church at Weyer's Cave. My grandfather James was the son of Wm. Frederick Croushorn, son of Nicholas Croushorn, son of the immigrant, Jakob (Jacob). I also got a degree in music education from Madison College in 1972. I send sincere condolences. (Marylin) Faith Heflin Rumph of Orange
