Lawrence "Larry" Presnell Melvin

Lawrence Presnel (Larry) Melvin, 72, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday January 16,2013 at his Mt. Sidney residence with his loving wife of 28 yrs. by his bedside. Larry was born on December 4, 1940 to Lillie Melvin Slade in Cumberland County ,NC.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janet Melvin; one son, Larry G. (Sue) Melvin, Zion, IL.,one stepson, Jamie W. (Kendra) Slaubaugh, Oakland, MD, and one step daughter, Patricia Melvin Fisher (Steve Andreas), Carrolton, TX. He has 6 grandchildren, Anthony L. Melvin, Pensacola, FL, Heather D. Melvin, Zion, IL., Brittaney N. Slaubaugh, Grace-Marie Slaubaugh, ZacHary W. Slaubaugh and Noah E. Slaubaugh , all of Oakland, MD.

Larry is survived by his mother, Lillie Melvin Slade of Hope Mills, NC, four brothers, James ( Nam) Slade, Johnny Slade, Robert (Cheryl ) Slade, Fayetteville, NC and Mitchell (Joanne) Slade, Hope Mills, NC. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews , other family members and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his stepfather, two brothers and three sisters.

Larry was an 18 yr. NAVY veteran, limo owner/operator, construction superintendent & lastly Augusta County School Bus driver.

Family visitors will be received at his residence on Fri, January 25, 2013 from 2 -8 pm .

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church in Weyers Cave on Sat, January 26, 2013 at 2 pm with family visitation from 1-2pm .
