Obituary of Virginia Gilbert Ocheltree
Mrs. Virginia Gilbert Ocheltree, 91, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 5 2012. She was born on August 1, 1921 and was the daughter of the late O. W. Gilbert, Sr. and Georgia Cupp Gilbert. She lived all of her life in Augusta County in the Mt. Sidney area and graduated from Mt. Sidney High School. Mrs. Ocheltree was a devoted and cherished member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Women’s ELCA and served as Sexton until 2011. She was retired from Augusta County Schools as a cafeteria worker; ande enjoyed baking for people, gardening, craft making and sharing her love of the Lord. On Dec. 19, 1942 she married Lurty Paul Ocheltree who preceded her in death on May 31, 1977. She is survived by one son, Douglas W. Ocheltree and wife, Sherry of Mt. Sidney; one granddaughter, Nicole R. Ocheltree of Staunton; one brother, O. W. Gilbert, Jr. of Staunton; three sisters, Elizabeth Crickenberger of Stuarts Draft; Emma Louise Grant of Staunton and Pauline Miler of Harrisonburg; one brother-in-law, Ray Crickenberger of Fern Park, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Crickenberger. A Memorial Service will be held at three o’clock Sunday afternoon at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Carr officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery at a later date. There will be no public viewing; however the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Saturday evening at the Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home.
