Virginia King Shreckhise

She was born on August 24, 1920 in Gapland, MD and was the daughter of the late Howell and Clara Smith King.

Virginia was a lifelong resident of Weyers Cave; a homemaker and member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren.

On April 12, 1940 she married Richard “Dick” C. Shreckhise, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2003.

Mrs. Shreckhise is survived by her children, Joan Wine and husband, Bill of Mt. Sidney, Richard F. Shreckhise and wife, Pat of Lititz, PA, Jennifer Brooks and husband, John of Mt. Sidney, Karen Lambert and husband, Nevin of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Jeff Wine and wife, Cindy, Lori Cox and husband, Doug, John D. Brooks and wife, Melissa, Allen Brooks and wife, Kristine, Adam Shreckhise and Amber Coppings, Sarah Shreckhise and husband, Nate Miller, and Elizabeth and Rachel Hill; great-grandchildren, Damian Fink and wife, Angie, Devon Fridley and husband, Brian, Chase Wine, Seth and Clint Cox, Jacob, Jordan, Abigail, Lily Grace, Dylan, William and Kaitlyn Brooks; great-great-grandchildren, Carter and Drake Fink, Landon and Lance Fridley; brothers Harry King, Willard King and wife, Jean.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Fulton King.

The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 PM, Friday, March 2, 2012 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM, Saturday, March 3, at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Rev. Matthew Fike officiating. Burial will be private.
