He was preceded in death by his parents, George C. Hill, Sr. and Mildred C. Hill, and his beloved foster parents, Harold C. and Anna M. Furr. He is survived by his siblings, George Hill, Joanne Hill, and Harold Furr; his children, Amber Kirkpatrick and Patrick Hill; and his grandchildren, Waylon Hill, Carter Hill, Damien Byrd, and Alexis Byrd.
Wayne had a lifelong passion for music and possessed a talented voice. He attended music camps in his youth and sang in the choir throughout high school. He especially loved gospel music and performed as a tenor with the Loyalaires Quartet; one of his favorite songs was “Peace in the Valley.” Wayne was a dedicated man who always strove to put a smile on someone's face or engage in meaningful conversation.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. A graveside service will follow at the Covenant Brethren Church in Barren Ridge, Staunton.
