OBITUARY

Barbara Ann Ourso Walker

January 8, 1934January 17, 2021

Barbara Ann Ourso Walker passed away peacefully at home January 16, 2021 at 11:19 pm, with her cousin Darlene Ourso by her side. She was born January 8,1934, the only child to the late Robert J. and Lillian Eschete Ourso in Houma, Louisiana. She had resided in White Castle since moving home to Louisiana in 2013.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her loving husband Bernard "Ben" Walker Sr., son Robert Walter Walker, daughter Ellen Mary Walker Heim and mother-in-law Pearl Ellender Walker.

She is survived by her sons Bernard J. Walker Jr. and wife Constanze, Greenville, SC, Russell Walker and husband Kevin Edwards, Long Beach, CA, daughter Julie Walker Edwards and husband Bob, Fort Bragg, CA and son-in-law James "Jimmy" Heim and wife Rose, Doylestown, PA. Bobbie was very proud of her grandchildren, who will all miss their dear "Bebe": Anastasia L., Evan J. and Bernard J. Walker lll, Katarina E. Walker Aubuchon and husband Paul, Allison, Emmalee and Walker Edwards, Alexandra, Matthew and twins Grace Ann and Erin Rose Heim. She is also survived by several special people: her Godchild Larry John Eschete, Ogden Utah, Jan Pellegrin and Sylvia Trahan, Houma, her beloved friends Tony and Annette Ferrieri, Pittsburgh, PA, as well as her dear friend, who she called her “younger sister,” Cecelia P. Gibbs, Long Beach, CA.

Bobbie and Ben were married in 1953. Ben attended LSU while Bobbie worked at Keans. Bobbie was a huge LSU Tiger fan and watched every sport LSU offered. After Ben's graduation, they moved to Lake Charles, where Ben started his career with Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) and the two started their family. PPG took them to Pittsburgh, Puerto Rico, Montreal and Wheeling, WV. She also spent time with her grandchildren in Perkasie, PA, Greenville, SC and Susanville, CA before returning to Louisiana. Bobbie enjoyed being a wife and mother. She planned and hosted many social gatherings for PPG dignitaries and found time to chauffeur the kids around to their many events. Bobbie was a fabulous cook, a generous hostess and loved doing arts and craft. She and Ben shared their love of good music, dancing and live theatre with their children. Bobbie lived and traveled in many places in the US and Canada. She loved living in Pittsburgh, but in her heart she was always a proud Louisianan (Geaux, Tigers!) and lived her final years in White Castle surrounded and visited by her dear family and friends, under the loving care of her cousin Darlene. We would like to thank the Ourso family for always offering a helping hand and her two favorite caregivers Kendrell Georgetown and Josie Jackson for their love and care during her latter years.

Burial will take place at a later time with the inurnment in the beautiful Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, Garden of Pillar, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Bobbie’s name

Thank you, Bobbie for taking such good care of all your Pitt theater kids so many years ago. You were our mom away from home and I will always treasure the memories, as much as I treasured the sweater you made me until it was in tatters. May your memory be a blessing to all who love you.
