Esther Parker

Esther Gomez Parker, age 96, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2021. She was born July 2, 1925 in White Castle, Louisiana to Rudolph and Cora Gomez. She married the love of her life, Eldon Roger Parker, who preceded her in death in 1970. Esther moved at age 74 to Lafayette, Louisiana to be near her daughter and family.

Esther's life was a living example of compassion, forgiveness and helping others. Her unwavering faith and trust in God was forever present. She was a devoted mother who loved and cherished her family and grandchildren. She impacted the lives of many within her extended family with her wisdom and loving presence.

Esther will be sorely missed. All who loved her dearly will never forget her wit, tenacity, charm, grace as well as her sewing and baking skills.

Loved ones who preceded her in death are husband, Eldon Parker; brothers, Sidney and Andrew Gomez; sister, Shirley Ourso; and parents, Rudolph and Cora Gomez.

She is survived by daughter, Gail Poirrier and husband, Steven; grandson, Keith Poirrier and wife, Daniella; granddaughter, Katherine Spears and husband, Patrick; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Andre Poirrier; sister, Electa Barlow; and brother, Leonard Gomez and wife, Deanna.

Visitation services for immediate family are scheduled for Wednesday morning, August 18, 2021 starting at 8:30 to 9:00 and open visitation begins at 9:00 and ends at 9:45 at Ourso Funeral Home, 31885 Hwy 1, White Castle, La. At 10:00 Mass will be celebrated for Esther at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 32615 Bowie Street, White Castle, La., followed by interment at the church cemetery, White Castle, La .
