

Josephine Mary Guercio Robert, age 84, passed peacefully on July 23, 2017. Born and raised in White Castle, Louisiana, Josie relocated to Baton Rouge with her family in 1971. Her Italian heritage was evident in her sassy nature and jokester ways. She enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting special items for friends and loved ones. She was known for her strength, her unwavering faith, and her deep and abiding love for family. She was a devoted nurses’ aide at Grace Health and Rehabilitation Center for numerous years.
Josie leaves behind three children and their spouses, Pete and Maria (Robert) Peterson, Bernard “Red” and Kimberlynn (Stewart) Robert Jr., and Michael “Mike” and Anita (Ross) Robert. Josie was blessed with ten grandchildren, Bernard Robert III, Brandi Robert, Brenna Robert and (Chad) Merritt, Taylor Peterson, BreeAnn Robert and (Josias) Fowler, Brandon Robert (Salena), Lyndsey Quirk, Brooke Robert, Abigail Quirk, and Jude Robert. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mary (Sciortino) Guercio, as well as five siblings, Sam “Blue” Guercio III, Camella Guercio Morris, Anthony “A.J.” Guercio, Russell Guercio, and Jo Marie Guercio Norred. Josie also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. The pallbearers will be Bernard Robert III, Taylor Peterson, Brandon Robert, Chad Merritt, Josias Fowler, and Jeff Champagne. The honorary pallbearer is Jude Robert.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Timothy Lindsey and staff at Daniel Clinic in Saint Francisville, the staff at Grace Health and Rehabilitation Center in Slaughter and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in White Castle from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am. Father Paul Yi will be officiating.
