A native and lifelong resident of White Castle, LA, he departed this life on Friday, June 22, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House at the age of 86. He was a retired surgarcane and cattle farmer. Pechon was the ultimate cowboy, having a great love for his horses and cows. He loved riding his horses and competing in team sorting with all of his many friends. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home of White Castle on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and will resume on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in White Castle until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. celebrated by Rev. David Allen. Entombment will follow at the church mausoleum. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jazenette “Noonie” Boudreaux Aucoin; four children and their spouses Marlene A. Sanchez and husband David Sanchez and Lee Roy “Boo” Aucoin Jr. all of White Castle, Tessie A. Robert and husband Alan Robert of Prairieville, and Robert “Bob” Aucoin and wife Rhonda DeBenedetto Aucoin of Port Allen; six grandchildren Rhett Sanchez, Alana, Kyle and Austin Robert, and Ashley and Megan Aucoin; three sisters Margaret Canova, Catherine Willis and husband Randolph, Mercedes LeBlanc and husband Herman and sister-in-law Carrie Rosemond. Also survived by special friends that were family to him Lizette Hebert and Andrew Zito.
Preceded in death by his parents George and Maude Aucoin and three brothers Marion, William “Billy”, and Donald Aucoin.
Pechon was U.S. Army WWII veteran, a member of the South La. Team Sorting Assoc., past President of the Cattlemen’s Assoc. and the White Castle Lions Club, past commander of the American Legion, a former Board of Director at the White Castle Fertilizer Co-op, a former White Castle Alderman, a former member of the Iberville Parish Police Jury and a former member of the White Castle Branch of Iberville Bank Advisory Board. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kyle and Austin Robert, nephew Sam Canova, Andrew Zito, Carlo Canova, Jr. and Troy Canella. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Guidry, Ricky LeRay, Bass Green, Gerard Clement and Hunter Hebert. A heart felt thank you to his wonderful caregivers Darlene Breaux, Mary Washington and Janice Billings. Also a very special thank you to Zeke Sanchez and the staff of Comfort Care Hospice, espicially John and Michael Barbee, Kelly, Trisha, and Jennifer and also the staff of The Carpenter House for the wonderful care that they all provided.
