

Loles “Jack” Landry, a longtime resident of White Castle, died peacefully with family at his side on the 31st of January at home. He was born July 23, 1930 and was married to his best friend Mercedes, the love of his life, for 65 years.
He proudly served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged from active duty. He worked as a Union glazier at Braud Glass Co. He also worked with Paul Dufour and Sam Corso at Dufour Art Studios creating stained glass windows for churches across Louisiana during which time he designed and assembled the Jubilee art glass panel for Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in White Castle.
His happiest days were spent with his children and grandchildren who will always remember those Sunday lunch discussions. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 212, the White Castle Lions Club and recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones Award.
He is preceded in death by his spouse, Mercedes, his parents, Loles and Harriet Landry, brother James Landry, Sr. and sisters, Vertile Cavilier and Louida Albarado. He is survived by his sons; Ernest “Ernie” Landry (Laura) and Wayne Landry; three grandchildren, Adam (Julia), Clay (Auldyn) and Chelsea Chauvin (Todd).
Due to Covid-19, the family is having a small private service with Father Alex Sheldon performing the funeral mass. Interment will follow at the White Castle Cemetery with military honors.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Doris Delone for her loving care in his final days. A sincerest thank you also to Bridgeway Hospice and especially his nurse, Liz, for all of their kind and generous help during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to Louisiana Lions Crippled Children’s Camp in Leesville, Louisiana or the American Legion Post 212 in White Castle, Louisiana.
