Andrea Kay Hankins

Andrea Kay Hankins, 82, of Whiting, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Complete Care at Green Acres in Toms River, NJ. Andrea was born in Passaic, NJ and grew up in Carteret. She later moved to High Crest Lake in Butler, NJ where she graduated from Butler High School. She went on to graduate from Fairmont State College in Fairmont, West Virginia.

After marrying in 1963, Andrea moved to West Point Island in Lavallette, NJ where her late husband, James Hankins, Sr. served as mayor and owned a boat building business. She taught physical education and health for the Toms River School District for 40 years and worked part-time for Bay Head Travel. She loved living by the water and going on cruises with her friends.

Andrea is predeceased by her husband, James Hankins, Sr.; and her brother, Howard Wood. She is survived by her son, James Hankins, Jr.; her granddaughter, Catherine Hankins; and her dear friend of 67 years, Virginia Young and her husband, Richard.
