Angelica Cardillo, 95, of Whiting, NJ, peacefully went home to be with her Lord Jesus, on Monday, March 10 at the Pines in Whiting. Angelica was born in The Bronx, NY where she met her loving husband, Samuel, later moving to NJ, where they raised their four children in Piscataway, then moving to Whiting where they lived the rest of their lives.
Angelica worked as a registered nurse, first at Fordham Hospital then at Muhlenberg Hospital, and later as a private duty nurse. The nursing profession provided Angelica the perfect avenue to put feet to the compassion that was so much her nature. She loved people, inspired always by her first love for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
She enjoyed gardening! But she loved her family best– and kept an open heart, and an open home, always ready to provide for the needy, whether friend or stranger.
Angelica was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Samuel Cardillo, in 2013; and by her parents and two of her brothers, George and Peter. She is survived by her brother Salvatore and his wife Carole; by many nieces and nephews; by her two daughters and their spouses, Cathy Bitner (David), and Jo Anne Anderson (Brian); and her two sons and their spouses; Samuel Cardillo (Debbie), and Peter Cardillo (Theresa). And by 18 adoring grandchildren, and 41 beautiful great-grandchildren!
“Grandma was a beautiful soul, a woman of deep and abiding faith, and perhaps the most loving, selfless person I have ever known. The world is a better place because of her legacy of kindness, generosity, and faithfulness. I will be forever blessed by her example of faith, hope and character; her practical and generous expressions of love; her profound authenticity and warm simplicity; and for the pure joy and love we shared across four generations of family.” (So writes one of her affectionate grandchildren.)
Family will gather on Monday, March 17, from 10:30 am. until 12:30 pm. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd., Whiting, NJ. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. There will be some brief reflections at the cemetery before we commit her body to the earth where she will rest in Jesus, until the glorious resurrection!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Angelica’s memory to The Friends of Israel, at foi.org.
