Casey Mehrman, 48, of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on June 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with addiction. Born on December 23, 1975, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Casey was a devoted son, father, brother, and partner whose kind heart and enduring spirit touched the lives of many.
A talented painter by trade, Casey was known for his impossibly straight cut lines. Give him a brush, and he could edge a ceiling with the kind of precision that made even perfectionists take notice. In better times, Casey loved music, dancing, and the energy of New York City. He was naturally coordinated and loved to work a dance floor. The city and music brought him joy and it’s where he felt free and loved living in the moment. He was a loyal fan of the New York Jets and the Yankees, following every season with the kind of enduring optimism only true fans understand.
Though Casey’s life was marked by struggle, those who knew him will always remember his big heart, great sense of humor, and unwavering hope for the future. What defined him most was the decade he spent sober — a time when he truly came into his own. During those years, Casey lived fully and freely. He built a life as a devoted husband and father, thrived in his role as a successful business account manager, and traveled the country with purpose and pride. It was in this chapter of his life that he reconnected with his faith, deepened his relationships, and touched the lives of everyone around him. That is the version of Casey — full of light, determination, and love — that we will hold onto.
He never truly understood how special he was, but those of us who knew him and loved him always did — and always will. He is already missed. He will be remembered.
Casey is survived by his loving mother, Colleen Flynn; his beloved children, Kailee Kelly and Mason Mehrman; his sister, Carrissa Vazquez and her husband Aicardo; and his life partner of many years, Jacqueline Kelly, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond. Casey is also remembered with love by his cherished grandmother, Peg Flynn; his nephew, Dax Hanson; his half-brother, Cody Mehrman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Mehrman; his grandfather, Jack Flynn; and several beloved aunts and uncles.
A memorial gathering of family & friends will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at D'Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Avenue, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ. A memorial service will be held at 6:00PM at the funeral home.
