We have many fond memories of Cathy.  She was always so cheerful and resourceful, a wonderful friend.  She took such attentive care of us when we were visiting her and Arnie.  We remember the good times here and there, lolling and frolicking at garbage beach, dining out in Charleston and Savannah, or just sitting together in the sun-filled breakfast nook at Wyboo.  Being together is our lasting memory. 


       I recall some incidents featuring our beloved Cathy drawn from a car trip in the southwest when Cathy, Arnold, Marcie, and I were young, many years ago.  Perhaps there will be a moral.
       Walking down the Bright Angel trail at the Grand Canyon, we rounded a tight bend where we just missed collision with an overhanging rock.  But Cathy, being taller, didn't miss it.  As she said, or words to this effect, Who but me would come across the country to bump my head on the Grand Canyon.
       At Bryce, as our string of mules was led us over a rise where we got our first look down into the arroyo full of hoodoos.  Cathy announced, “That's as far as I go”.  The cowboy said you can't get off here!  And she said “Watch me”, and off the mule she slid, leaving the cowboy to deal with the spare mule. 
       At Zion we made the heart-throbbing hike up to Angels' Landing.  At the top, where the path narrows to five feet wide over a freestanding rock shelf with thousand foot  drops on both sides, Cathy calmly announced that she was not doing that.  Those of us who ventured soon dropped to our hands and knees and crawled backwards to safety, where Cathy welcomed us, and we agreed that almost all the way to Angels' Landing was good enough.  
       In Yosemite we made the spectacular hike from the top of Glacier Point down to the valley.  When an unexpected thunderstorm came in fast, we took shelter under a low overhanging ledge, where we were dry but surrounded by lightning, and soon we felt and saw the hair rising on our heads.  Cathy leapt up and announced that she was going down, fast.  The rest of us meekly followed in the rain.  As we came to learn later, our situation under that ledge had been perilous.  We were in imminent danger of death by lightning.  
       Cathy was such a congenial, cheerful, happy person, so comfortable to be with.  And occasionally Cathy made up her mind about something, and she was not subtle about it.  And sometimes she was right.


I recall Cathy taking me as a guest when she went to a Bible study group in Wyboo, South Carolina.  Later, when I returned to Florida, Wallace (my husband) and I were asked if we would be willing to host a Bible study group at our home.  I supported the request because I had been favorably impressed with my experience with sister-in-law Cathy's group.  About 22 people attended the group that met weekly at our home.  Sharing  things that were meaningful to her was one of my fondest memories of Cathy.

Cathy will always be remembered for her faith, strength and kindness. She was a caring person and loved and protected her family. We enjoyed our times together at the beach and all the weekends together with family and  especially all the holiday gatherings. She walked on this earth for too short of a time and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Donna and I quickly became friends and sorority sisters in college.  Somehow, we decided to study abroad in Spain together, and my parents weren’t “on board” until they met Donna’s parents.  It gave my parents comfort to meet Donna’s parents and know that they all just wanted the best for their children, and that they could connect with each other anytime.  Donna and I continued our friendship after college, providing me with multiple opportunities to engage with her mother, who was always upbeat and personable, and had a way of making me and everyone else feel “at home” in her presence.  My parents and I extend our thoughts and prayers for Donna and her family during this difficult time.  I love you, Donna! 

When my brother, Arnold, first introduced me to Cathy, I knew without a doubt that she would be the perfect mate for him. Fortunately, he quickly figured that out, too. And as the years went by, she proved me right about that time and time again. She was such a loving and giving person, and a very special addition to our Page family.

Both my sister Alice and I live in other parts of the US.  As our Mother aged and needed more help, Cathy and our brother Reg's wife Carole, both of whom lived near her stepped up to fill in when distance made it very difficult for Alice and me to do that. I have always been very grateful to them for their loving care of my mom.

Over the years, my siblings and their spouses have made the effort to gather in one part of the country or other at least once every two years. We always had a great time together, and sharing time with Cathy was a definite highlight. I will forever miss her sweet and loving personality.

I remember when Cathy and I were hosting the Medford Lakes Lions at their state convention in Atlantic City .  We were in an elevator going to an open house put on by one of the district governors.  The elevator stalled.I am claustrophobic and started to panic and hyperventilate. Cathy was next to me.  She put her arms around me and held on until the doors opened.

I will never forgot her kindness.  Condolences to Arnie and his family from Don and Donna Rogers.
