Born in Manhattan, he lived in Matawan before moving to Whiting 11 years ago.
Prior to retiring in 1984, he was a computer programmer and systems analyst for Lerner Company in Bayonne.
Clifford loved his grandkids and family very much and also enjoyed listening to his favorite music.
Surviving is his wife Mary Barber Phillips. A son Robert Phillips and his wife Luanne of Matawan. A daughter Paula Phillips of Ocean Township. A brother Carl F. Phillips of Virginia Beach. 2 Grandchildren and 5 nephews.
Services are private under the direction of the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
