

Frank R. Bellomo was born in Casamassima, Bari, Italy on March 9, 1920. He was welcomed home by the Lord on August 25, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Vito and Anna Bellomo, his beloved wife Mary Vergura Bellomo and his dear sister, Carmella.
Frank immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1931 and Graduated from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, NJ in 1938. During World War II, Frank served for 38 months in the Navy Seabees in the Pacific theater, primarily in Okinawa and Saipan.
After the war, Frank received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952 from Loyola College in Baltimore and in 1956 he earned a medical degree from the University of Maryland. Dr. Bellomo spent 10 years in Family Practice and then completed a residency in Psychiatry and rose to the position of Chief of Psychiatric Services with the Veterans Administration. Frank retired in 1982. He is survived by great nieces and nephews and cousins both in the US and in Italy.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 will be followed by the celebration of the Mass of the Resurrection at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road in Whiting, NJ. Interment will be at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in the Archdiocese of Newark
