

James Earl DeMary Sr., son of the late Daniel DeMary Jr. and Hilda Johnson (Ananias-Doc Johnson), was born in Greenville NC on April 19, 1955. On Saturday July 19, 2025 he passed away peacefully at home. James, to most, was also known as Fats.
James was raised in Lakewood, NJ where he attended the Lakewood school district until he enlisted in the army in 1973. James served as an army corporal E-4.
As a child and some of his adulthood, James was a member of Greater Bethel of God and Christ in Lakewood NJ.
In 1987, James married the love of his life Roxie DeMary.
James loved cooking, watching football and basketball, listening to his music (including country music). James loved going to a good BBQ. James also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. They did no wrong in his eyes.
James worked as a cook in various places. He also worked at fast forward and was a smoking monitor at Shore Meadows Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Savoy, brother Rudolph DeMary, Brother Aaron Johnson, and great-grandson Lawrence Hailey.
James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years Roxie DeMary, three daughters Tanisha Dimiduk, Yvonne Booker (Brian), Catena Hailey (Robert). Two sons, James DeMary, Jr. and Martin Brown, Jr., 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Alexander DeMary and Daniel Teel, one sister Wanda Coleman, one brother-in-law Ronald Savoy Sr. three sister in laws Patricia Corbin (David), Carmella Jones, Bertha Davis, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A Memorial Gathering for James will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Committal Service will follow at 1:30 PM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
