LEGACY
Born on July 9, 1937, in Chapel Hill, James served his country with pride in the United States Air Force for eight years as a boom operator. He was highly skilled in mid-air refueling operations, and by the end of his service, he was training others in this critical role — a responsibility he took great pride in. Following his military service, James worked for many years as a Field Service Representative for Bendix Corporation, where he continued to bring his dedication and integrity to every task.
James was a man of quiet strength, known for his kind heart, bright smile, and infectious laugh. He lived by the Golden Rule, treating everyone with respect, warmth, and fairness. He had a natural ability to brighten the day of those around him, always offering a kind word and a genuine interest in others.
HERITAGE
James was predeceased by his wife, Linda L. Maxson, in 2022; his older brother, Charles Maxson, and 2 sisters: Anne Smith & Marion Rogers. James is survived by his loving daughter, Lara, and son-in-law, David Byrne. He was a proud grandfather to Isabelle and Annie, who brought him immense joy and of whom he was endlessly proud.
