

Joseph E. Schubert, 91, of the Whiting section of Manchester Twp., passed away peacefully Monday, May 16, 2016 at home surrounded by family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard having served during WW II. He worked for the Philadelphia Gas Works as a Specialist in Customer Service for 28 years, retiring in 1981. Joseph was a congregant of the Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting. He was a member of the Glassboro F&A Masons #85 and the VFW Whiting Post 8745. Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Pitman, NJ and in Lakeland, FL, moving to Whiting in 1999.
Joseph is predeceased by his first wife the late Lillian Douglas and his son Steven Douglas, both in 1963. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Freta nee Semon Schubert, a son Joseph W. & his wife Marie, 3 daughters, Linda Oriente & her husband Al, Noreen Annarelli & her husband Mike, and Patricia Schubert. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Tina Annarelli, Steven Annarelli & his wife Dianne, Alex Oriente, Denise Henderson & her husband Bob, Samantha Blankenbaker, BethAnn Blankenbaker, & Wayne Schubert. Joseph is also survived by his great grandchildren Leo, Gabriella. Danny & Brianna, and also surviving is his sister Idella Giles.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, May 27 at 10am from the Christ Lutheran Church, Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. Committal will follow at the BrigGenWmCDoyleNJVeteransCemetery, Wrightstown.
