

Leah “Janet” Girton, 89, of Whiting, NJ, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Community Medical Center. Born on July 15, 1936 in Cookeville, TN, she spent most of her life in Hamilton, NJ, before moving to Whiting in 2002. She graduated from Hamilton High School West in 1954 and worked as a UI Clerk for the New Jersey Department of Labor for 30 years, retiring in 2001.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a dedicated member of the Liberty Street Church of Christ and the Whiting Bible Church, where she volunteered her time when possible. She loved bowling, walking, and playing bocce at her clubhouse but nothing brought her more joy than being with her whole family.
Janet was predeceased by her husband of 14 years, Garrett B. Girton. She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald Manners of Trenton, NJ and Robert and Denise Manners of Fairless Hills, PA as well as her grandchildren whom she adored; Lindsey Manners of Robbinsville, NJ, Bobby and Dylan Manners of Fairless Hills, PA, Stacy Allen (Geoff) of Burlington, NJ and Ronnie Manners of Hamilton, NJ. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Garrett, Edward, Thomas, David, and Richard Girton and Linda Manion.
Friends may call on Monday, July 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the services beginning at 1 p.m. at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting. Interment will follow at the Princeton Memorial Park, 403 Gordon Rd, Robbinsville, NJ.
